This Gadget Has No Title

“A path is only a path, and there is no affront, to oneself or to others, in dropping it if that is what your heart tells you . . . Look at every path closely and deliberately. Try it as many times as you think necessary. Then ask yourself alone, one question . . . Does this path have a heart? If it does, the path is good; if it doesn't it is of no use.”

Tá na Bláthanna Beag

Small beginnings...

Don't Give In To Despair

Ní maith an rud d'aigne bheith de shíor ar na brionglóidí agus faillí a dhéanamh sa bheatha, cuimhnigh ar sin.

In The Beginning It Is Always Dark

Bastian: Why is it so dark?
Empress Moonchild: In the beginning it is always dark.
Bastian: What is that?
Empress Moonchild: One grain of sand. It is all that remains of my vast empire.
Bastian: Fantasia has totally disappeared?
Empress Moonchild: Yes
Bastian: Then everything has been in vain.
Empress Moonchild: No, it hasn't. Fantasia can arise in you. In your dreams and wishes Bastian.
Bastian: How?
Empress Moonchild: Open your hand. (places grain of sand in Bastion's hand)
Empress Moonchild: What are you going to wish for?

Bastian: I don't know.
Empress Moonchild: Then there will be no Fantasia any more.
Bastian: How many wishes do I get?
Empress Moonchild: As many as you want. And the more wishes you make, the more magnificent Fantasia will become.
Bastian: Really?
Empress Moonchild: Try it.

Falling Down

Hey. Why are you putting barbed wire on that fence? Is this how you rich people amuse yourselves? You put barbed wire on the fence so innocent people like me can hurt themselves looking in? - Bill Foster

The Rowing Song

Round the world and home again
That's the sailor's way
There's no earthly way of knowing
Which direction we are going
There's no knowing where we're rowing
Or which way the river's flowing
Is it raining, is it snowing
Is a hurricane a-blowing
Not a speck of light is showing
So the danger must be growing
Are the fires of Hell a-glowing
Is the grisly reaper mowing
Yes, the danger must be growing
For the rowers keep on rowing
And they're certainly not showing
Any signs that they are slowing

The Deathly Hallows

Terror washed over him as he lay on the floor, with that funeral drum pounding inside of him. Would it hurt to die? All those times he had thought that it was about to happen and escaped, he had never really thought of the thing itself: his will to live had always been so much stronger than his fear of death.

Do You Know What The Scariest Thing Is?

Do you know what the scariest thing is?

To not know your place in this world. To not know why you're here. That's...that's just an awful feeling. - Elijah Price

Fractal Wrongness

In The Next Life

A friend of mine once commented that after he dies, he wanted to come back as a parrot in his next life.

When asked why, his answer was simple, "Because I'll already know a lot of words."

Home Land Security

[Mr. Furious, the Blue Raja, and the Shoveller are sneaking across Frankenstein's property to undertake some reconnaissance

Mr. Furious: Shh! Wait! Hear that? We must have hit a trip-wire. It could be a proton eviscerator heating up.
The Shoveller: It could be a cybernetic atom scrambler. They target moving objects.
The Blue Raja: It sounds more like a heat-seeking anthrax projection gun to me. Quickly, cover your mouths.
Mr. Furious: No, let's bolt! Come on!
The Shoveller No! Don't move.
The Blue Raja: Don't breathe!
Mr. Furious: Let's bolt!
The Shoveller: Don't move!
The Blue Raja: Don't breathe!
Mr. Furious: Let's bolt!
The Shoveller: Don't move!

[
a sprinkler system turns on and the three are soaked]

The Shoveller: [disgustedly] Ohh, it's the sprinkler.
